Brisbane to Sydney Magic ✨
Happy 2026! 🎉
We kicked off the new year in a BIG way — with a trip to Australia 🇦🇺 — and Jonah might officially rank it as his favorite country yet!
We started in Brisbane, Australia, where it felt like we were back in Miami (where we used to live), with the perfect 80-degree weather and all of the palm trees. One of our first adventures? Riding electric scooters through the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. 🌴 It was the perfect way to begin. We explored the Queensland Museum, walked and ate our way through South Bank Parklands, and soaked in river views that felt straight out of a postcard.
A huge highlight was taking a ferry to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where Jonah fed kangaroos from his hands and took photos with koalas 🦘🐨 (definitely a bucket-list moment!). We also visited the Gold Coast and spent time at Surfers Paradise, where the sand stretched for miles and the waves were towering. The daytime skyline view from Mount Coot-tha Lookout and the sparkling city lights at night from the Sky Deck View Point made Brisbane even more unforgettable.
Then we headed to Sydney, Australia, where the weather turned cooler and rainy — but the energy was incredible. We explored the city on a Hop-On Hop-Off bus, stopped for fresh fish and chips at the Sydney Fish Market, and visited Bondi Beach. 🌊 One iconic moment? Jonah running up the steps of the Sydney Opera House and looking out over the harbor.
But the absolute #1 highlight of the trip was camping out for 13 hours near the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House to secure a spot for the 2026 New Year’s Eve fireworks. When the sky lit up over Sydney Harbour, it was completely worth the wait. Sydney’s New Year’s Eve celebration is #2 in the world, and it was a another bucket list item for us. 🤩 1-1.5 million people were there to see the 7 million dollar fireworks show! 🎆
Fun fact: Australia is home to more kangaroos than people — and it’s the only country that is also a continent! 🌏 From tropical gardens and wildlife encounters to famous beaches and world-class fireworks, this trip was everything we hoped for and more. 💗
